Universal Worship Service Sheets, JULY 2009

Interfaith Ministry celebrates the Truth at the heart of all spiritual teachings, honouring the understanding that there is one human family with many paths to the Source of All. If you are not comfortable with any of the names we may use for the Source of All, during the service, please substitute with your preference. And if there are any practices or rituals, which you prefer to refrain from please feel comfortable to do so. Please let us know if there is a practice from your way that you would like to share or have included.

Our focus this morning is………DEVOTIONAL MUSIC

I am a hole in a flute that the Christ's breath moves through - Listen to this Music. ~ Hafiz

Welcome & Greetings from Reverend Jane Coulthard

Readings ~ from Dayndaa Day, the third pauree (stanza) of Japji, the Sikh sacred composition of Guru Nanak. Japji means meditation of the Soul. It is for all people, as this was Guru Nanak's way. The 3rd pauree, transforms insufficiency into sufficiency, turns depression into elevation, and transforms low self-esteem into complete self-confidence.

~ The Song of the Bird, from Anthony de Mello

Attunement ~ Tibetan Buddhist, Chenresig Mantra of Compassion. This is the deity of compassion that we all have within us.                  OM MANI PEDME HUNG

The mantra becomes one's staff of life and carries you through every ordeal. ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Sung Greetings ~             "How should those who know of God meet and part?

The way an old musician greets his beloved instrument. And will take special care,

as a great artist always does, to enhance the final note of each performance." ~ Hafiz

Candle-Lighting Ceremony: Invoking the Living Presence of The Source of All.

Sung Prayers ~ Bahai Devotional. Psalm 113 from the Torah. Native American Shamanic Chant.

There is a…… "hymn of praise to its Creator that every heart throughout the universe

forever sings as one." A Course in Miracles

Meditation ~ from A Course in Miracles, Ch. 21. I. The Forgotten Song, And, God's Cricket Choir.

(An engineer mathematically slowed down the sound of crickets chirping at night. He slowed the sound to emulate what the sound would be like if it were extended through the lifetime of a human. The angelic chorus you hear accompanying the sound of the crickets is NOT a synthesizer or a chorus singing. It is the crickets themselves (slowed down) creating the effect.)

You know the ancient song, and know it well. Nothing will ever be as dear to you as is this ancient hymn of love the Son of God sings to his Father still. A Course in Miracles

Receiving Divine Gifts ~ sharing the basket, with the Lammas Song.

Inspirational Message ~ As you keep singing your mantra, you will become aware that the Divine song is singing you. In truth, it always has, and forever will. You will come to the realisation that your mantra is the song you sing with God. ~ Miranda Mcpherson.

Invitation to giving ~ THANK YOU for your generous donations which help us to put on the service. The truth maintains that giving will increase what you possess.

Give gladly. You can only gain thereby. ~ A Course in Miracles.

Song ~  'Hevenu shalom aleichem' ~ We have brought peace onto you, led for us by Jonathan Penley and his Accordion.

Story ~ The Music Coming from the Chapel, by Paulo Coelho.

Interactive Blessing ~ with Scott Kalechstein's song,     'Give me your blessing child of God,

meet in the space of heart to heart, an angel of love is what you are, so give me your blessing'

Whenever you reach out from the truth in you to connect with

the core essence of another person, you experience God. ~ Miranda Mcpherson

Closing Blessings ~           May we all remember the ancient song

May we let our hearts sing without ceasing

May all beings join in the never ending song of love,

of the created to our Creator.

We blow out the candles sending the song of our souls out to sing to all beings everywhere.

THANK YOU ALL, for sharing your music with us.

The human heart discovers it's most touching music when desire and love inform each other. ~ John O'Donohue

Listen, listen, this wonderful sound brings me back to my true self. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Be not surprised if the message of the future is given in the form of music.

~ Pir-O-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan.
